Study refutes "busy as a bee" claim: indicates XW is in fact busier than a bee

What a waste that he's not going to remember the ridiculous fervor of his current existence.  Life is an absolute whirlwind of zerberts and laps around the couch and cat poking and desperately desired can't -wait-one-more- minute-for oranges. Tides turn so quickly right now.  A moaning, miserable baby with an outstretched yearning arm turns into a smiling, toddling, monkey boy once he gets that little cup full of orange pieces.  He smiles at it, grins at the mommy or mama who provided it, giggles somewhat secretively and then marches off to another jaunt around the kitchen table, frequently punctuated by sqatting down to sample his cup of treats.

C is for Cookie

Aside from a glorious abundance of hugs, kisses, presents, bright lights, and entertainment, christmas brought Xavi the word "cookie" as well as an eagle eye for the good stuff on top of the counter.  There is no turning back. All our cookie sneaking is over.  He will smell the powdered sugar on our breath

100% of Xavi's Mom's polled at days end report feeling "wierd" on day off

It's bizarre to have had a day of no work/no hosting/no cooking/no managing anything but ourselves and our little monkey.  We won't get used to it.  And maybe soon we'll get to the list of important things we thought we'd do this week.

In other news:

XWRK turned 16 months old today.

Xavi Daily - December 18, 2007

Ok.  There is much wistfullness among the mamas these days.  The passing of speed crawling, the new independence, the distaste for almost all food offered; these are the signs of babyhood passing.  But, this evening, after a long day, and a very long going to bed process, Mama was offered up the most mind bendingly sweet experience.  After finally wrangling XW into the rocking chair, turning off the light, providing three nuks for little hands to cling to, Mama finally got down to the business of singing a night-night song.  It being the holiday season, she chose Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.  And Xavi, to her surprise (although Mommy had reported similar happenings from earlier in the day) took his nuk out from his mouth and sang along for the entire song.  Not in english.  In special xavi baby language, but with all the intonation and sincerity a person could hope for.  The whole song.  If the experience were a picture it would be 4 kittens sleeping in a pile, on a koala bear, with a bunny, in a treehouse.  (Which if it existed, would certainly be on Cute Overload.

That kid is too much.  He's going to have be checked for some sort of niceness disorder.

Xavi Daily - December 17, 2007

Where did my baby go? I am aware that all babies grow up, that time is not within my control, that every mama since time immemorial has bored her friends with this question.  But really. Where is he? There is a new unicorn in the house. Lucky for us, the new walking, talking unicorn is still a bucket of sweetness.

Here's some updates to the Xavi lexicon:

Roarrrrrrr:  What a lion says, and often what a cat says, what a monkey says, what a duck says, and today - what Xavi says.

Wa-ter: NOTE the two syllables please.

Teetoo: Orange kitty

kak ka ka:  quack (a rare occurence - see roaaarr)

Baybul: bagel, also known as the only food XW will predictably eat on a daily basis

Knee: Knee (but he doesn't really recognize the silent K)

Eye: Eye (to get the full effect poke a small index finger deep into your eyeball while saying)

Noh!: Nose.  But to get the full, passionate intent of XW's communication walk up to a sleeping cat, reach out with small index finder and poke kitty nose repeatedly while saying "Noh, Noh, Noh, Noh, Noh" until cat tries to bite you.

A few other notes on the little monkey's development:

He can now zerbert (raspberry for those of you who don't understand zerberts) a belly upon request.

A favorite activity: putting couch pillows on the floor and pretending to go night night in front of the fireplace.  Get your cuteness patrol out, cuz he's breaking records.

Taking laps around the house while carrying a leeetle cup of orange slices.

I don't care that I had to go to the toddler section to look for pajamas for him at Macy's, I will call him my baby Xavi until he takes my car.

XWRK sends his love to his fans. He's also gone totally digital.  XW can be seen in his online video debut on youtube.   More videos are to come.

Xavi Daily 11/22/2007 - More Toddler Evidence

Confirming earlier reports, Xavi has exhibited the following additional signs of toddlerhood.

 "no no no no no."  Fortunately, it's still cute.

 Requiring the reading of the "Great day for UP" book at least three times before bed.  No other book will do at all.

The following additional words and sounds added to the lexicon:

 Mo = Monkey (esp for uncle Richie)

Meo =  Meow

Mmmmm = Moo and also cow

Na = Nuk

ffffss = Fish

More to come..

Xavi Daily 11/21/07 - Toddlerhood Arrives

Much to the surprise of all Xavi's keepers, the baby was diagnosed with toddlerhood in the past 24 hours.  Symptoms that have been indentified include:

Inability to sit still in a restaurant.

Constant chatter - some of which is in "traditional" english and some of which is in the more lively, expressive "blaggle blaggle" english.

Walking.  A lot.

Fancy new tricks like standing on one foot.

Crazy amounts of mimicking and learning new skills; tummy washing; sniffing; coloring with crayons; mooing.

Others to be reported.

Among the skills still not mastered; sleeping past five am.

Mr. Toddler sends his love to all his fans.
