Xavi Daily - Edition 2

Note: This was originally published October 18, 2006.  Republished here for the new blog.

Ok, so edition 1 was two days ago - but we are still in the publishing business.  here's a few updates:

"I have hands!"  Several sources have reported that yesterday, while riding in his car seat, Xavi grabbed and held on to his toy (one of the fun toys Pop sent) several times, and seemed to think it was a pretty cool thing to be able to do.  Passenger "Mama" was highly impressed and is sending off for the Harvard application as we speak.

Today, at the "first weeks" parenting support group a trip to the baby scale revealed that little 25th percentile boy has zoomed up to the whopping weight of 11lbs and 1oz.  Although a  couple of those oz might be attributed to the clothes and blanket, he's at least 10 lbs and 14 oz.  That is a gain of more than a pound from his weigh in last week at 9lb 9oz.  He's a crazy eating machine this kid - he is growing some adorable chub.  Xavi responded to the news by nursing for 45 minutes.

Also in the news today, Schroeder licked his head several times while he was nursing.  She may have concluded that he is a very oversized kitten.

That's the news for the moment.  We hope you are well.

best,

Xavi's moms.

Xavi Daily - Edition 1

Note:  This was originally written on October 16, 2006.  Republished here for the new blog.

Greetings far off family members,

Today is the inagural edition of the Xavi Daily - a daily chronicle of the life and times of Senor Xavier William.  It is the intention of the publishers to provide brief daily updates of the adventures of the new little monkey who had come to live with us - to keep all of you big fans in far off places fully informed of his progress.

"I want to be like Serafina" - Xavi.  10/16/2006

Last night, in solidarity with his new cousin Serafina, Xavi returned to sleep habits we haven't seen since the first newborn weeks - waking up every two hours all night.  Subsequently today passed in a blur of unreasonably short naps, lots of nursing and a few fun adventures trying to grab the purple elephant that hangs from the little toy mat. There were some adorable smiles - which improved my attitude about my first day home with him all day while erin is at work, without a visit from Grammy.   It went fine overall, although Xavi reports that I'm a bit less fun than Grammy, which I can't argue with.

Love to you all,

Xavi's keepers
